Passion, innovation, and knowledge are at the heart of Brewlab. As the brewery celebrated its second anniversary, it recognized the need for a rebranding—one that would make its identity and mission as a brewery-school clearer to the public. To achieve this, Brewlab invited Plau to develop a new brand strategy and a fresh approach to its label design.
Inspired by Brewlab’s scientific and experimental nature, we created an identity that reimagines the way beer labels communicate. Instead of keeping essential details tucked away on the sides, we placed them front and center, much like a laboratory label. Every Brewlab beer label prominently displays key brewing data—such as malt, hops, yeast, original and final gravity—turning each can into an educational tool for both beer enthusiasts and aspiring brewers. The label colors match the hues of the beer inside, while a bold graphic element guides those less familiar with craft beer, helping them make more informed choices based on attributes like sweetness, body, bitterness, and acidity.
Brewlab’s commitment to education goes beyond the drinking experience. Embracing an open-source philosophy, the brewery shares its recipes transparently, fostering collaboration within the craft beer community. Whether homebrewers or microbreweries, anyone can use the information on the label to replicate the beer, experiment, and push the boundaries of brewing.
